Business Credit Cards are Made for Business

The name already speaks for itself.  The reason it is called “business credit card” is because the issuer developed this credit facility precisely for the purpose of catering to the business market, particularly to the small business entrepreneurs.  As a matter of fact, one of the gauges in the approval of such a card, aside from the businessman’s credit record, is the credit record of the business itself.  On top of any other reasons however, business credit cards are said to be tailor fit for business because it definitely provide crucial help that any small businesses may need.

If advantages and disadvantages of credit business credit cards are to be discussed, the former far exceeds the latter.  I will be discussing these advantages and few disadvantages.  It is up to the entrepreneur to decide whether or not a business credit card is what he needs.

For the advantages, it is usually easier to acquire a business credit card than a business line of credit.  It makes for easier and more convenient shopping for business needs without the necessity to bring cash.  Many business credit cards offer various features that are beneficial to the businessman and his business like rewards and rebate program and zero percentages on purchases, fees and interests for a period of time depending on the card.  To some, these cards are the source of capital for business.  It also allows for efficient management of business expenditures and taxation computations because of its quarterly and yearly statements of account.  It allows for the liquidity of the business.  It serves as emergency funds for the business in times when cash flow is tight.  It makes possible a more efficient tracking of business accounts and expenses of all employees issued with cards because of a consolidated billing statement. This also provides the borrower the opportunity to control overspending by their employees.  Another advantage of a business credit card is that it allows for the borrower to build his credit record.  It could also be a source of cash through the credit cards cash advance feature.  It also makes possible a good relationship with vendors or suppliers.  Operational expenses are reduced with the use of business credit cards.  This list could be endless.

On the other hand, there are also disadvantages in using business credit cards, after all, it is what it is, a credit card.  Basic credit card problem is the lack of discipline of the one using it.  If this cannot be curbed, be the entrepreneur or the employees, then it could lead to a big problem like gargantum debts and business closure.  Another bad result of this is a bad credit record that could be detrimental to the entrepreneur if he intends to come up with other businesses and do more borrowings.  However, this disadvantages depends greatly on the person himself.  If this happens to him, he has only himself to blame.  The business credit card is just there as his tool.  How to use it is entirely up to him.
