Reprieve from Met Credit Card Abuse

More than 1,000 police officers and staff have misused their company credit cards. 1,183 employees used their credit cards for personal spending. Instead of punishment these officers and staff were given training and guidance. However, Jenny Jones and others said the training was not enough.. The use of the cards was between 1,100 and 82,000 pounds. The money is going to be repaid by the police officers and staff who misused the cards.

Those who are suspected of fraud may even see charges filed against them. We are not talking about credit cards instant decision here or even personal cards. The cards used by these officers were for the department. They were supposed to be used for specific spending. There were some officers that were labelled as having misused the cards, but not in a criminal way. These individuals will be reprimanded, but not as severely as the others. An internal audit was performed to see who used the credit cards improperly. Experts state that these officers and staff must have known that sooner or later they would be caught, yet it still did not stop them from misusing the cards and many to very high degrees.
